John F. Sweeney, M.D., F.A.C.S., is an associate professor of surgery at the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, where he is also chief of the General Surgery Division. Dr. Sweeney specializes in bariatric surgery, reflux disease, hernia repair, and minimally invasive surgery. He also focuses on surgical management of splenic diseases and minimally invasive approaches to the anterior lumbar spine for spinal fusion. Dr. Sweeney earned his medical degree from Rush Medical School in Chicago, Ill. He practices bariatric surgery at hospitals in the Houston area. Dr. Sweeney has over ten years of experience in bariatrics and is an active member of many professional organizations.
